If you are visiting Germany or even just the Black Forest and are looking for one of the most beautiful and, above all, natural spa resorts, then the Bad Wildbad spa park must be on your list of things to visit. There is something for every age and fitness group. At Räuberberg there is an adventure playground for children and a few tennis courts for parents. In addition to hiking and cycling trails, you will also find some Nordic walking routes here. All in all, a very well-rounded area where you can simply let yourself be enchanted by nature.

In addition to these outdoor activities, there are also some attractions that you shouldn’t miss.

  • The Rose Garden
  • Swan Lake
  • The English Church
  • The Moorish Pavilion
  • The Black Forest Mill Wheel
  • The Kurtheater with an always interesting program of events.

History of the spa park

The first foundations for what would become the spa park were laid in 1699 by the Dukes of Württemberg at the time. What initially began with planting was expanded almost 200 years later with the Vaudeville Theater, the music pavilion and today’s Trinkhallenplatz. Today the Vaudeville Theater is better known as the Royal Spa Theater. The English church was also built during this time and the sequoias were planted. And as the years went by, so did the spa park. For example, the rose garden was planted, the air and sun bath was enhanced along with the redesign of the Enz river bank, the Kneipp facility and the Black Forest mill.

It goes without saying that when the spa park was built, it was only accessible to the nobility. Thankfully, that hasn’t been the case for a long time. Today, the 1.5 km long spa park is available for all visitors to relax in. In addition to the rose and flower beds, you can admire the oldest tree. Even though the royal buildings, like the tree, are more than 200 years old, these magnificent buildings have lost none of their beauty and romance. It doesn’t take much imagination to imagine royal carriages with decorated horses driving by. Not to mention the enchanting Swan Lake.

The Moorish Pavilion

If you are thinking of a somewhat unusual wedding, the Moorish Pavilion might be just what you are looking for.

The Moorish Pavilion is located on a small hill in the middle of the Wildbad spa gardens and was built in 1875. Inside the Moorish Pavilion you can admire the golden dome and the richly painted tent roof. The colors flow from white to blue to gold.

The pavilion was made from cast parts from the Wasseralfinger Hüttenwerke, which were obtained through the construction of the Wilhelma in Stuttgart.

The English Church

The English Church was built at the time of the Moorish Pavilion in 1865 in the style of a medieval village church. Like the Pavilion, the church is suitable for weddings with a special flair. The church itself stands on a wonderful green area, surrounded by impressive redwood trees.

Until the beginning of the First World War, masses were held in the English Church for spa guests. It was only after the end of the Second World War that the church was put to a variety of uses. The wooden ceiling construction is particularly impressive.

The Rose Garden

Whether it’s a wedding or an anniversary, the rose garden offers a royal ambience in the blossoming nature. The rose garden is located on a small hill in the spa park. – Decorated with reclining figures and high fountain columns, the rose garden is not only reminiscent of the times of yesteryear. The rose garden has retained its aristocratic atmosphere and can now be enjoyed by all guests.

Events in the spa park

For those of you who are interested in culture and entertainment, the Cultural Theater has annual events that even philistines cannot resist.

For example, July is dedicated annually to the Rossini Opera Festival .

Did you know:
The famous composer Giorgio Rossini returned to the Bad Wildbad spa park every year 150 years ago.

The Royal Spa Theatre was classified as a cultural monument of particular importance by the State Monument Authority in 1997 and impresses thousands of visitors every year with its classicist style.

Additional concerts are offered by local clubs such as the Bad Wildbad spa orchestra. Performances and lectures can be found in the annual program.

The “ Enzbeleuchtung ” is an unforgettable experience . Every summer, more than 22,000 lights and lanterns are distributed throughout the cultural park. The light art festival “Enzufer Illumination” already looks back on a 130-year history.

Today, the illuminations often serve as a spectacular backdrop for weddings and other celebrations. Of course, weddings can be held in the English church by prior arrangement and celebrated in the Pump Room and the Rose Garden.

Tour of the Bad Wildbad spa park

This walk is 3 km long and is suitable for all visitors and all seasons. In warmer weather you will find shade under the many trees and in winter the paths are cleared. They are mostly flat and mostly run parallel to the river and the slopes. Thanks to the mild, stimulating low mountain climate, the air is clean and invites you to take a deep breath and relax.

On this tour, people and nature come together in a natural and relaxing way!

The meeting point for the tour is the last stop of the S-Bahn in the spa park. From here you go to the spa house, where you can also visit the rose garden and the bird house. The tour continues to the Schweizerhäuschen and the Karlsberg with the obelisk. Then you go down to the Swan Lake, past the mud park and the Kneipp pool.

Above the bridge you will find the adventure playground “Räuberberg”. There is a 25 m long adventure slide, a rope pyramid and the cable car for young and old.

From here the path leads you to the Moorish Pavilion, the Roman Fountain and the English Church, past the Kurhaus and back to the starting point.

In addition to the sights, you will find the Black Forest mill wheel, bridges and fountains on the tour, which still remind us of the nostalgic world of yesteryear. And all of this in the midst of a colorful variety of plants, meadows and rocky areas.

The tour lasts about one hour.

Interesting facts about the spa park

The spa park is open all year round free of charge and there are cafes, ice cream parlors, restaurants and bistros where you can get a snack.
