Hiking trails in Bad Wildbad in the Black Forest

A charming landscape, mountains, valleys, forests, rivers, and endless hiking trails make the heart of every hiking enthusiast beat faster. Of course, the Northern Black Forest hiking region also has numerous premium hiking trails, panoramic trails, and circular hiking trails.

Bad Wildbad is located in the valley of the Great Enz and is well worth a trip anyway.
If you want to combine the pretty spa town with an exciting hike, hike up to the Sommerberg (alternatively, you can also use the Sommerbergbahn). There is a treetop path with a viewing tower and a 380 m-long suspension rope bridge. Even without these highlights, the hike, which
leads through the woods to the Fünf Bäume lawn, rewarding us with great natural impressions.

gain Start and finish: Paulinenhöhe Bad Wildbad (Alte Dobler Straße)


This multifaceted circular hike offers views and a nature experience through secluded forests. From the Paulinenhöhe, the trail zigzags uphill to the weather vane on the Wildbader Kopf. From the weather vane hut, you have a fantastic view of Bad Wildbad and Calmbach. The trail then continues to the Soldatenbrunnen hut and through the idyllic Rennbachtal back to the Paulinenhöhe.

gain Start and finish: Tower Treetop Path

At nine stations, the radio play “The Cold Heart” by Wilhelm Hauff tells how the boy Peter Munk struggles for happiness. Also present are the glass man, the good forest spirit who grants him three wishes, and Dutchman Michel, a huge, broad-shouldered guy who wants to steal Peter’s heart. The path is barrier-free, graveled, and suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Parking is available in the Sommerberg car park or the parking garages in the valley. From there you can also climb the Sommerberg on foot via the ascent paths from Marienruhe or the zigzag path.

gain Start and finish: Kleinenzhof, Kleinenzhof 1, 75323 Bad Wildbad

This hike, for which a good level of fitness and surefootedness is an advantage, begins with an idyllic trail directly on the Little Enz. It leads past a beautiful bridge, the Butterhütte and the Riesensteinhütte. On the circular hiking trail, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Kleinenztal. After a good 12 kilometers, the circular hike ends back at the Kleinenzhof.

7.9 km, approx. 2.5 hours, medium, 273 meters elevation
gain Start and finish: Car park at the Kälbermühle, Kälbermühlenweg (if you drive over the bridge, you will come to the Kälbermühle car park, 75323 Bad Wildbad)


Tour through the romantic, remote Kälbertal in the Northern Black Forest. Hiking idyll and pure nature! A small path leads along the Kälberbach to the Kälberbach spring. From there, mostly wider hiking and forest paths lead back through the Kälbertal to the Kälbermühle.

4.9 km, approx. 1-2 hours, easy,
start and finish: Lindenplatz, 75323 Bad Wildbad – Calmbach


The starting point is at Lindenplatz in Calmbach. From there the path goes along Gauthierstrasse to the Calmbach hiking lodge. To the left of the hiking lodge the path leads uphill into the forest. At the small junction take the left path. Continue straight along the mountain slope. The forest path leads into a tarred path. You walk left down the path and walk around the bend. Then turn onto the forest path. From there the tour continues straight until you come out of the forest. Various benches invite you to take a break. From here you have a beautiful view of Calmbach. Continue down Bergstrasse, past the local history and rafting museum and back to the starting point at Lindenplatz.

The Sulzkar, a mysterious natural beauty, offers a very special kind of hike where you can marvel at impressive rock formations. The circular hike leads from the Lautenhof to the Sulzkar, then on to the Grünhütte and along the Rollwasserbach back to the Lautenhof.

On the “Dobler Sträßle” over the bridge to the right side of the Eyach – always stay on the path on the lower valley slope – “Hirschbrunnen” – “Lehmannshof”. Back on the so-called “Wasserweg”, which runs directly along the stream. Continue over the temporary bridge above the small dam of the Mannenbach water supply to the tarred Eyachtalstrasse to the starting point Eyachmühle.

The Kaltenbronn is home to one of the last intact raised bog areas in Central Europe. The raised bogs around the Kaltenbronn – with the Wildseemoor and the Holohsee and their open water areas – offer a unique, unspoiled
landscape. The forests here are a very sensitive habitat for many rare animals and plants. As early as 1928, part of the Wildseemoor was given protected status as a “banned area”.

7.6 km, approx. 2 hours, medium, 510 to 680 meters elevation

The historic circular hiking trail is around 7.6 km long and leads through the scenic landscape around the small Black Forest town to Christophshof and back again. The information boards provide interesting information about the history and living conditions of the people in and around Sprollenhaus – including what a “Sprollenhäuser Hut” is. The starting point of the theme trail, which is suitable for strollers, is the central village square with bakery and village fountain. Parking is possible at the village square and nearby.

6.6 km, approx. 2 hours, medium, 286 metres elevation

Do you know Wildi, the wild boar from Bad Wildbad? Wildi discovered the healing thermal spring and had an adventure with Count Eberhard. You can find Wildi’s wild exchange treasure on the Grad-Eberhard hiking trail (blue diamond) at the lookout point with the lounger and the wild boar. Not suitable for strollers. Wilhelmschule-Riesenstein-Lookout point-Kleinenzhof. The small tour would be, if you only do the tour from Kleinenzhof, to the treasure (approx. 1 km)

Hiking in the Northern and Southern Black Forest

From Hinterzarten we hike along beautiful paths into the Ravenna Gorge, see waterfalls, the Ravenna Bridge, come to Hofgut Sternen and hike back through the Höllental.

The Karlsruher Grat is about 400m long. From above you can see the Black Forest heights between
Hornigsgrinde (1,163m) and Schliffkopf (1,054m) as well as the deep Gottschlägel valley.
Our hike leads to the Karlsruher Grat and further to the waterfalls at the Edelfrauengrab. 180 steps and 7 cascades can be admired in the Gottschlägel valley.

The Feldberg (1,493 m) is the highest mountain in the Black Forest and also the highest mountain in the German
low mountain ranges. Of course, you have to see it. On the Feldbergsteig we hike over the Seebuck to the Feldberg summit, then on to the St. Wilhelmer Hut, and finally to the Feldsee.

The Blauen (1,165 m) is the local mountain of the Markgräfler Land in the southern Black Forest. We hike
from the castle park over the Prinzensitz up to the Blauen.
From the Blauenturm you have a great view of the Belchen and the Vosges
and in good weather, you can see Basel in front of the Jura.

The Monbach Gorge near Bad Liebenzell in the northern Black Forest is a four-kilometer-long valley section into which
the Monbach has cut up to 170 meters deep and trickles over terraces towards Nagold. On the tour, we also see the Monakamer Altar, Liebenzell Castle, and the Bad Liebenzell spa gardens.

We set off from the Schauinsland Valley station (1,284 m) and climb almost a thousand meters in altitude to complete this scenic and varied tour (of course, you can also take the Schauinsland cable car over the most difficult section). The Zweribach falls over the approximately forty-meter-high waterfalls into the Simonswälder valley, where it flows into the Wilde Gutach. We start at the Plattenhof (a restaurant with its own butcher’s shop), come to Lake Balaton, and then hike in a small loop to the Zwerichbach waterfalls. On the way back we pass the Black Forest lookout point with a great view.
