The first accolade dates back to 2013. The magazine “National Geographic” listed the Pforzheim Wildlife Park in the category “ The most beautiful wildlife parks in Germany ”.

Thanks to the many positive feedback from visitors on the rating portal “TripAdvisor”, the Pforzheim Wildlife Park was one of the 10 best zoological institutions in Germany in 2015 and, with the Certificate of EXCELLENCE, was again ranked number 1 among the attractions in Pforzheim in 2018.

The work for the animals and visitors was also confirmed in 2019 by a Google analysis by the BILD newspaper . Here, the wildlife park was ranked 17th out of 160 tested zoos and wildlife parks . And shortly after the Corona restrictions in spring 2022, the wild ranking went into the next round. The travel portal “kurz-mal-weg” and the platform “t-online” counted our facility among the 10 best wildlife parks in Germany, thus naming it the best wildlife park in Baden-Württemberg .

Discover Neuenbürg Castle in the Northern Black Forest and its over 800-year history!

Around 1200, the Counts of Calw-Vaihingen built a castle with a shield wall, keep and moat on the mountain that had already been settled by the Celts
. Count Konrad of Calw-Vaihingen called himself Count of Neuenbürg from the middle of the 13th century. The town of Neuenbürg in the Enz district was first mentioned in documents in the 13th century.

The Habsburg royal family also expressed interest in the strategically located castle at the time by purchasing
Neuenbürg Castle for the empire. Neuenbürg itself was part of Baden at the time. But the Württembergers would soon take over the castle from imperial property.

In the 16th century, long-term renovations and extensions to the castle in the Renaissance style began.
Neuenbürg Castle was originally planned as the residence of the Dukes of Württemberg.

Despite a devastating fire during the Thirty Years’ War and hasty reconstruction, Neuenbürg Castle remains
one of the most important architectural monuments in southwest Germany.

Since 2010, Neuenbürg Castle has been one of the top ten highlights in the Northern Black Forest.
